I’m sorry… what is a chicken back?  I did a little reading about raw feeding and it sounds really good!  It’s just really hard to find affordable fresh meats, especially in Hawaii I think.  And have your dogs ever had problems from swallowing pieces that were too large?

Chicken backs can be bought in bulk at meat distributors like Higa Meats, HFM, etc….They are essentially the portion of the chicken back that has very little meat. The part the tail is attached to.

They run between $.40 & $.70/lb and are available in 40lb frozen boxes. We hope to eventually set up a raw co-op (purchasing program) and will keep all on the site apprised of the developments.

My guys never have had any blockages or obstructions. The saliva of a dog is stronger than our stomach acid and their stomach acids easily dissolve bone during their 4hr digestion period. They do sometimes bite off more than they can properly chew and this usually prompts a quick puke which they pick back up and work on till it goes down right.

Fecal matter is much smaller and made much less often. It usually has very little smell as well. I would recommend this for any canine owner looking to optimze their dogs health and maximize their quality of life.

Ok, after 2 days of 99¢ chicken quarters twice a day & kibble only once a day, there is very little poop to pick up.  I’d say it’s down to perhaps a quarter of what I normally pick up when feeding kibble 3 meals a day.

you can also try to get whole chickens when they go on sale, then chop them in half for the dogs for a meal…

basically just about anything can be fed for raw food, if you have access to pork ,get a whole pig and chop that up and feed that (head can be fed too)

Some people are like slinkys, not good for anything but put a smile on your face when you push them down the stairs
